A Special Session on Security Education
The 2008 International Conference on Security Technology

This special section provides a platform for educators to present papers related to academic curriculum, programs and the computer security Body of Knowledge (BOK). These reports and recommendations will allow description of the current state of academic computer security courses and programs and the sharing of ideas in an effort to identify the fundamental skills and competencies necessary for students entering this field of study. The paper presentations will be followed by a panel discussion in an effort to assimilate the information presented into a consensus recommendation for security program curriculum, specialty areas within the discipline, core competencies and a relevant BOK in the field. This includes existing, planned or recommended courses that allow students to acquire the necessary skills and competencies for successful pursuit of careers in the computer security field.
